Unsung have revealed they were cautioned about Swansea West MP Geraint Davies during their initial weeks in Westminster. According to the MPs, they have been advised by their colleagues to “watch out” for Davies. The Labour Party suspended Davies following Politico information website’s reports of “completely unacceptable behaviour.” The MP faces accusations of subjecting youthful female colleagues to undesirable sexual consideration, though he claims not to recognise the allegations.
One of the MPs who spoke to BBC Wales alleged that she skilled lewd comments and inappropriate touching. “He was all the time lewd and yuck when it comes to his behaviour, it was simply his MO (the way he operated),” she mentioned. “It was never sinister, just inappropriate. He’d make lewd comments or touch your arm when you had been next to him within the voting lobby. It just made you feel uncomfortable.”
She added that when she first turned an MP, a number of individuals warned her about Davies. “It’s about time this came to mild,” she stated. He told the BBC that the accusations in opposition to Davies are “very serious” and “need to be taken significantly.” Initially, Labour claimed it had not received a proper criticism, but it is now understood that one has been filed.
A Labour spokesperson beforehand acknowledged: “These are extremely severe allegations of fully unacceptable behaviour. We strongly encourage anybody with a criticism to come ahead to the Labour Party’s investigation.” They added that any complainant may have access to an impartial support service providing confidential and impartial steerage and advice from exterior experts all through the process..
