The EuroFlo Industrial Pump system retains Tunnel boring machine (TBM) cool by a steady water provide. The Cross Rail venture is an east-west rail route that passes underneath town of London utilizing new twin-bore 21km tunnels.
Forbidden and the tanks are situated at the surface; the water is pumped from there right down to the shaft and all alongside the tunnel up to the TBM. Once the water has handed via the TBM system the remaining water comes back through a filtration system to the tanks on the floor, out of the tunnel.
The water circuit offers 20 l/s to every TBM and eight l/s is used within the TBM for different works and 12 l/s returns to the tanks. The inlet stress needed ranges between four and 10 bar. On one site three TBM’s are working and the pump system delivers 60 l/s, with the tools consisting of one single tank (3200m3) and one industrial pump used per tunnel. On one other website, the installation support’s the excavation with just one TBM with 20 litres/second and the water storage tank capacity of 1100m3
EuroFlo use 37 kW vertical multistage Industrial pumps for the cooling system whereas the TBM excavates through a major underground section of the Cross rail challenge.
