The revenue division director within the Ratchathewi district of Bangkok was apprehended for soliciting bribes amounting to three million baht from an actual property agency in exchange for a tax exemption price greater than forty million baht.
The director, identified as Pramuan, was arrested yesterday at a lodge situated within the Ratchathewi space after he organized a meeting with the actual estate firm to receive the bribe. Despite the accusations, he refuted the claims, stating that he was unaware of the money contained in the envelope and assumed it was a doc.
Pramuan was arrested after the real property firm filed a criticism. The firm reported that Pramuan contacted them and demanded cost of forty million baht for constructing and land tax.
Although the company was willing to pay the tax, Pramuan supplied to maintain the matter confidential if they paid him 3 million baht. Later, he increased the demand to three,500,000 baht, claiming that he needed to share the money with different authorities. He ultimately lowered the amount to three,200,000 baht.
The company deemed Pramuan’s solicitation of bribes as dishonest and notified the police. The police then collaborated with the company to stage an operation during which they agreed to Pramuan’s offer and caught him red-handed taking the money at a lodge.
On the day of the meeting, the police waited until Pramuan took the envelope containing the money from the corporate before arresting him.
Pramuan was charged with violating Section 149 of the Criminal Law by being a government official who wrongfully calls for, accepts or agrees to just accept property or some other profit for exercising or not exercising any of the duties. The punishment will end result within the dying penalty, imprisonment from 5 to twenty years, and a fine from a hundred,000 to four hundred,000 baht.
